A statement from our founder…


Big Boulder Solutions, LLC was born out of frustration with the current state of the marketing industry, particularly the pervasive attitude among marketing agencies that non-profit organizations and small businesses are nothing more than cash-cows, when they are really the foundation of our incredible community.

I worked for a non-profit organization for some time before starting this business. During my time there I didn't meet a single marketing agency that gave me quotes based on the value that we would gain from their services. Instead their quotes reflected their guesses of how much they thought that they could get us to pay. I received quotes of $40k-$70k for a website that should have cost between $15k-$20k, but they thought that they could get us to overpay because we were an "ignorant npo." With a college education in marketing and extensive experience in business leadership I knew better.

When it came time for me to move on from that non-profit organization, I channeled my frustrations into starting Big Boulder Solutions, LLC with the goal of giving non-profit organizations and small businesses another option - one that would treat them fairly and be transparent with its practices. I believe that a marketing agency should be a partner in an organization's success, not just another service that one has to deal with to stay in business. I believe that people should love their marketing agency, and my clients do love us. Warren Buffet once said "Don't just satisfy your customers, delight them." I follow that advice each day and it is the guiding philosophy on which I run my company. My customers are, in fact, delighted with the services that they receive from Big Boulder.

They stagger when I tell them that not every business needs to spend $5k/month on SEO because it can be better spent elsewhere – or saved. They are elated when they receive my quote for a website build that is thousands less than my competitor because I keep my overhead low and don't pad my profits. They tell me stories about the dozens of marketing agencies that they've contacted who tried to sell them things that they just know in their gut that they don’t need. They feel like those people are trying to take advantage of them - and they are right, I assure them. They leave those meetings feeling frustrated, taken advantage of, and that their precious time has been wasted yet again. In contrast, they leave our meetings feeling confident, informed, and sometimes even vindicated.

Having grown up in the Treasure Valley my love for our community runs deep. The kindness of this community has shaped my world view and guided my philosophy on leadership and service. I allow my love for our community to flow out through my business in a way that serves other small businesses and non-profit organizations - helping them to grow and thrive. They pay it forward by giving me referrals and by keeping our local economy and culture strong.

I’m not the first to do it this way, there are others. Unfortunately we are few and far between. I hope to be an example that will change the culture of my industry, to be the light that shines in the darkness. I want to prove to the world that doing marketing with integrity is not only possible, but better.
